September 2026
With the November election approaching, 16.7% of Texas voters are both unaffiliated with a political party and undecided about how they will vote, according to our latest voter poll.
Among these voters, 38% expect to support a mix of candidates across parties and 24% remain unsure how they will vote. Only about one in seven currently plans to vote exclusively for one party.

The statewide poll, conducted Aug. 22-26, 2026, by Baselice & Associates for Texas 2036, shows broad agreement on the positions most likely to earn voters’ support. Voters favor candidates focused on:
- Students reading and doing math at grade level: 85%.
- Lower healthcare prices: 83%.
- Preparing graduates for college or a career: 83%.
- Lower electricity bills: 82%.
- Needed water infrastructure: 81%.
- Lower homeowners insurance costs: 79%.
Unaffiliated and Undecided voters expressed similar priorities, with education outcomes and affordability leading the way.
