Jeremy Mazur

Director of Infrastructure and Natural Resources Policy

Focus

Jeremy Mazur is Director of Infrastructure and Natural Resources Policy at Texas 2036. He directs the organization’s work on water, energy and infrastructure resilience, with a focus on ensuring Texas has the infrastructure and natural resources needed to sustain its continued growth and economic prosperity.

Impact

At Texas 2036, Jeremy works to strengthen the infrastructure foundations that support Texas’ economy and quality of life. This includes efforts to:

  • Secure Texas’ long-term water future: Help advance a long-term funding strategy for water infrastructure that provides dedicated state resources to develop new water supplies, repair aging systems and strengthen Texas’ ability to meet the needs of a growing population.
  • Strengthen water planning and infrastructure: Support reforms to improve how Texas plans for, finances and develops water infrastructure, including efforts to encourage regional solutions, expand water supplies and strengthen the state’s ability to prepare for drought and other long-term water challenges.
  • Advance Texas’ energy leadership: Contribute to policies and research supporting an expanding and reliable Texas energy portfolio, including traditional energy resources, renewable generation and emerging technologies that can strengthen the state’s economy and energy leadership.
  • Build a more resilient Texas: Help advance policies and research focused on strengthening the resilience of the state’s critical infrastructure and improving Texas’ ability to prepare for extreme weather and the demands associated with continued population and economic growth.

Past Experience

Before coming to Texas 2036, Jeremy’s legislative career began in the late 20th century as a policy analyst with the Sunset Advisory Commission. From there, he served as Chief of Staff for state Rep. Bill Callegari, R-Katy, and as Deputy Chief of Staff and Legislative Director for state Sen. Van Taylor, R-Plano.

He also served as Director of Governmental Relations for two state agencies essential to Texas’ future: the Texas Water Development Board and, more recently, the Railroad Commission, Texas’ leading oil and gas, pipeline safety and surface mining regulator. Throughout his legislative career, Jeremy has worked on a host of issues, including water, energy, environmental regulation, housing, land use and public finance. Jeremy is an Eagle Scout.
