Trip Davis is a Policy Advisor for K-12 Education at Texas 2036. His work focuses on curriculum and instruction, with particular emphasis on numeracy, implementation of high-quality instructional materials, student assessment, and the expansion of career and technical education across the state.

Impact

At Texas 2036, Trip works on policies that strengthen K-12 instruction and prepare students for what comes next. His work includes efforts to:

  • Improve math outcomes: Examine policies and practices that strengthen math instruction and help more Texas students develop strong foundational math skills.
  • Support high-quality instruction: Work on the implementation of high-quality instructional materials and other evidence-based approaches that give teachers the tools and resources they need to support student learning.
  • Strengthen student assessment and career readiness: Explore opportunities to ensure Texas’ assessment system provides parents and educators with useful information about student progress while supporting high-quality career and technical education opportunities that prepare students for what comes next.

Past Experience

Before joining Texas 2036, Trip held various roles in the Texas Legislature, including his most recent role as Senior Policy Advisor for state Rep. Donna Howard, D-Austin.

Starting young, he embarked on a career in campaigns in 2004, where he managed the stickers and buttons for his Dad’s failed Texas House bid. Trip later rose through the ranks of Texas political staffers, from the entry-level positions of knocking on doors and phone banking to Legislative Director and eventually Chief of Staff. In subsequent roles, he focused on education, economic development and local government.
