Hegar invites feedback on high-speed internet funding

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced yesterday the publication of a Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for the Bringing Online Opportunities to Texas (BOOT) Program. The BOOT program is designed to expand broadband infrastructure in underserved areas of Texas and is funded through federal Capital Projects Fund dollars. The Boot NOFA can be accessed on the TXSmartBuy website.

Potential applicants to this competitive grant program have until March 17 to submit feedback on the NOFA to the Broadband Development Office. The Comptroller’s Office will begin accepting applications for the first round of funding starting April 3 and intends to provide $120 million in funding for last-mile connectivity projects that will bring high-speed internet to Texas homes.
