Alec Mendoza

Policy Advisor, Health and Economic Mobility

Focus Area

Alec Mendoza serves as a Policy Advisor at Texas 2036, where he focuses on improving health care affordability across the state. In this role, he supports the development and execution of Texas 2036’s health care policy strategy, driving efforts that foster market reforms and ensure Texans have access to high-quality, affordable care.

Prior Work Experience

Alec Mendoza joined Texas 2036 after serving as a Senior Health Policy Associate at Texans Care for Children, where he worked with the Texas Legislature, state agencies and stakeholders to advance health care and expand access to coverage for Texas families and children.

Before that, Alec spent three legislative sessions in the office of State Senator José Menéndez. He helped work on more than 20 pieces of legislation focused on mental health, education, health insurance, and local funding.

Alec holds a Master’s degree from the LBJ School of Public Affairs and a Bachelor’s degree in Government with a minor in Business, both from the University of Texas at Austin. In his free time, Alec enjoys spending time with family and friends, trying different coffee shops, further exploring his hometown of Austin, and cheering on the Longhorns, Spurs, and Cowboys.
