Why invest in tech modernization, cybersecurity
Texas 2036 Policy Advisor Rahul Sreenivasan appeared before the Senate Finance Committee on Friday to provide public testimony on tech modernization and cybersecurity during the budget presentation for the Texas Department of Information Resources.
Here are the highlights from his tech modernization and cybersecurity investments testimony:
- Lawmakers should continue to invest in the Technology Improvement and Modernization Fund, which was established last session.
- Fully fund the projects identified in the Priority Cybersecurity and Legacy System report. The latest version of the report included 95 projects from 32 agencies totaling $927 million.
He added:
“We just want to make sure the state is making smarter IT investments now instead of making a series of biennial Band-Aids and we believe that will make government services improve sooner while also saving our future Legislatures money.”
His testimony begins at about the 4:06:00 mark.
