Texas’ population tops 30 million: New Census report
Texas gained more new residents than any other state in the country from July 2021 to July 2022, according to a recent report by the U.S. Census Bureau.
The state saw an increase of more than 470,000 people during that 12-month period, bringing Texas’ population to over 30 million people.

Previously, California — a state we classify as one of our peer states — was the only state with a population of more than 30 million people. California was among 18 states that experienced a population decline during the period, leaving its population slightly above 39 million.
