Summary 

The Grants Coordinator will play a critical role in supporting the financial sustainability and strategic growth of Texas 2036 by managing the grant proposal and reporting processes. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Development, the Grants Coordinator will work closely with the Grant Writer and other colleagues from across the organization including the policy, data, communications and operations teams and other subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and coherence in all grant-related documentation.

The Grants Coordinator will work alongside a team of skilled professionals in a collaborative, diverse and creative environment. The Grants Coordinator will need to be capable of working independently and should be self-motivated to seek funding opportunities, integrate input, coordinate with key stakeholders, and anticipate and solve problems. Responsibilities 

  • Grant Proposal Development:
    • Initiate and facilitate collaboration with members of the policy, data, development, finance and the Grant Writer to gather necessary information and develop strategy for each grant proposal.
    • Serve as a liaison with the Grant Writer to ensure they have the materials they need and track progress toward timely submissions.
    • Edit grant proposals to various funding organizations.
    • Ensure all proposals align with the goals and objectives of Texas 2036, accurately represent the work and needs of the organization, and have the necessary internal approvals before submission.
  • Grant Reporting:
    • Help prepare and submit timely and accurate reports to funders as required.
    • Work collaboratively with the policy, data and communications teams to forecast, aggregate, collect, and compile data, projects, activities, and other deliverables essential for comprehensive reporting.
    • Monitor and ensure compliance with all grant requirements, including the timely submission of reports, financial documentation and other required materials.
    • Ensure that outcomes are measured, tracked and reported effectively.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
    • Serve as a liaison between Texas 2036 and some grant-making organizations.
    • Regularly interface with the policy team to stay informed about program developments, outcomes and impacts.
    • Build and maintain relationships with potential funders through regular communication, updates and stewardship activities.
    • Collaborate with finance and other staff to develop accurate and comprehensive grant budgets that align with programmatic needs and funding guidelines.
    • Communicate clearly and effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Research and Strategy:
    • Working with the Grant Writer, identify potential funding opportunities from foundations and corporations that align with the mission and goals of Texas 2036.
    • Assist in developing strategies for securing funding and expanding the organization’s grant portfolio.
    • Stay updated on trends and best practices in grant-writing and fundraising.
  • Administrative Support:
    • Help maintain comprehensive, accurate records of grant applications, awards, deliverables and reporting deadlines within the donor management database.
    • Assist with budgeting and financial tracking of grant-funded projects.
    • Enter gifts received at the Austin office into the donor database and prepare tax acknowledgement letters.
    • Support other fundraising and development activities as needed.
    • Perform all other duties as assigned to support the overall mission and goals of Texas 2036

Required Qualifications 

The ideal candidate will have a combination of the following qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in grant-writing and grant management, preferably in a nonprofit or policy-oriented organization
  • Results-oriented attitude and entrepreneurial spirit that thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative environment while also managing and prioritizing multiple simultaneous projects
  • Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Proficiency in GSuite applications (Google Drive/Docs/Sheets/etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Raiser’s Edge NXT or similar donor management database is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of and/or direct experience with state policymaking is a distinct advantage
  • Passion for Texas 2036’s mission and a commitment to making Texas the best place to live and work through 2036 and beyond

Compensation and Benefits 

Texas 2036 offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience. The target salary range for this position is $60,000-$70,000. Employees are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including health, vision and dental insurance with employee premiums paid by Texas 2036, a cell phone stipend and a 401K matching program. Location

The Grants Coordinator will be based out of Texas 2036’s Austin office. This is a hybrid role, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office, with additional office days as needed. Travel across Texas (not to exceed 5%) may be necessary for meetings with stakeholders, including board members, advisors, funders and colleagues.
