Mostly recently, Matt served as the Director of Analytics & Insight for the United Way for Greater Austin. There, Matt led efforts to strategically use data as a tool to drive decision-making across departments, including the development of public-facing and internal analytical tools related to the organization’s partnerships and program work. Prior to working at the United Way for Greater Austin, he worked at KIPP Austin Public Schools as the Digital Learning Coordinator for the Austin region. Before coming to KIPP, Matt started as as a Teach for America corps member at MacFarland Middle School in Washington, DC Public Schools where he served as a Literacy Intervention Specialist, Special Education Teacher, and IT Coordinator. After MacFarland, Matt transitioned to DC Public School’s Central Office to serve as the Manager of Technology Strategy where he helped schools around the city make better use of existing or previously unknown resources. He holds a Master’s in Education from George Mason University and a Bachelor’s in English Studies from Abilene Christian University and is currently wrapping up a Master’s of Public Affairs from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin. Matt resides in Austin with his wife and two girls. Together they enjoy spending time with friends & family, getting outdoors, and driving down to San Antonio for as many Spurs games as their schedule allows.
