Katharine was most recently on the executive staff of the Sunset Advisory Commission where she served a key role as Review Director, overseeing Sunset’s work to evaluate the mission and performance of Texas state agencies. During her 12-year career at Sunset, Katharine developed a deep understanding of Texas state government from reviews as varied as the Texas Department of Transportation, Department of State Health Services, Port of Houston Authority, and Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission. At Sunset, Katharine worked with a wide variety of elected officials, stakeholders, and members of the public to improve the effectiveness, efficiency, transparency, and accountability of state government. She developed strong skills in project supervision, research and analysis, stakeholder engagement, writing and editing, and the legislative process. Katharine graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Texas at Austin and holds a Master of Public Affairs Degree from the University’s Lyndon Baines Johnson School of Public Affairs. She also has long experience and interest in the nonprofit sector, earning a Portfolio in Nonprofit and Philanthropic Studies as part of her Masters Degree and serving on the Board of a small Austin-based nonprofit for six years.
